This online exhibition was conceptualised as a component of my BA Honours research for my written dissertation of the same name. I have always had a strong interest in curating, as well as research into curatorial techniques across multi-disciplinary fields.
This exhibition into Paratus imagery, and visual communication techniques engaged by the SADF in this magazine, has been designed in order for the viewer to be able to make interconnections between the visual media and themes that have been highlighted throughout the different gallery sections.
Furthermore, it is intended to offer insight into the connections between the clear emphasis of the SADF’s military culture, as well as the emotionality or affective value evident in this imagery.
RESEARCH FUNDING:
I would also like to acknowledge the UCT History Access programme for their funding and support of this project. I am grateful for having been afforded the opportunity to pursue this research, and without the support and guidance received from the History Access team this project would not have been possible.
