This gallery explores the ways that Paratus portrayed the nationalist ideas of the state during this period. We will see several subthemes: Military history and the implicit linking of the SADF to a long and glorious military history.
Internationalism, particularly through efforts to demonstrate the SADF’s connections abroad at a time of increasing isolation.
The portrayal of the intensity of the Communist threat at the Border, as well as the threat of political unrest and the danger of ‘terrorism’ within the country at the time.
